Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This privacy policy explains how Calorie Fit ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use calorie-fit.com. We believe in being clear and direct about data practices — no legalese where plain language will do.
1. What We Collect
Calorie Fit is a client-side web application. All calculations — BMI, macros, body fat, water intake, and calorie targets — run entirely in your browser. No calculation data you enter is ever sent to our servers or stored anywhere.
The only data we collect is anonymous usage analytics via Google Analytics 4. This includes:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- General geographic region (country/city level — not precise location)
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- Referring website (how you arrived at Calorie Fit)
- Interaction events (e.g. button clicks, calculator usage)
This data is collected in aggregate and anonymised. We cannot identify individual users from it.
2. Cookies
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish unique sessions and track returning visitors. These cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information. The primary cookies set are:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique users | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Maintains session state for GA4 | 2 years |
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party marketing technology beyond Google Analytics.
3. How We Use This Data
We use analytics data solely to:
- Understand which tools and pages are most useful to visitors
- Identify technical issues (e.g. pages with high bounce rates)
- Inform decisions about new features and content
- Measure the reach of published articles
We do not sell, rent, or share this data with any third party other than Google (as the analytics provider). We do not use the data for advertising, retargeting, or profiling.
4. Third-Party Services
The only third-party service integrated into Calorie Fit is Google Analytics 4, operated by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google's data processing is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and their GDPR Data Processing Terms. Analytics data may be transferred to and processed on Google's servers in the United States.
Google provides an opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout if you wish to prevent your data being used by Google Analytics across all websites.
5. Calculator Data
All values you enter into any Calorie Fit calculator (height, weight, age, body measurements) are processed locally in your browser using JavaScript. This data:
- Is never transmitted to any server
- Is never stored in cookies, localStorage, or any persistent storage
- Disappears when you close or refresh the page
- Is never associated with your identity in any way
6. Your Rights and Opt-Out Options
You can limit or opt out of analytics tracking at any time by:
- Installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out browser add-on
- Blocking all analytics cookies via your browser's privacy settings
- Using a browser extension such as uBlock Origin to block analytics scripts entirely
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, and the right to object to processing. Since we do not hold identifiable personal data, most of these rights apply to data held by Google rather than us directly. Contact Google's Data Protection Officer for those requests.
7. Data Retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default in our GA4 configuration, after which it is automatically deleted by Google. We do not archive GA data externally.
8. Children's Privacy
Calorie Fit is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through our site, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change. Continued use of the site after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
